Encounters

I was eating breakfast with my sister in school early this morning when we chanced upon an orange cat that occasionally roamed in the cafeteria. I then told my sister, “kilala ako niyang pusa na yan” [that cat knows me]. Just when I told her this, the cat looked at me for a few seconds, opened its mouth as if it was saying hello to me, and then slowly walked away.

This little occurrence reminded me of my previous encounters last year with cats roaming around in school. There were times when I attempted to pet these cats, only to possibly intimidate them and make them walk away. What happened a while ago was the complete opposite, though. I didn’t approach this said cat and it just went up to me, in the same way it has done so for the past few months.

Midair

Three. Two. One. Zero.

A loud, ringing sound coming from somewhere signaled the end of the professor’s discussion. He took away his glance from his watch and put a book and a calculator in his bag. With that, he bid farewell to some friends and walked quickly out of the classroom.

Where did he go? No one knows. No one probably knows. He headed to a distance until his image was obscured by trees visible on the horizon.

Perhaps things will be slightly different once everything falls into place.
